Latest stats: Neighborhood Library Project
March 4, 2025 | by
SafeHavens has partnered with Alpine Learning Hub to create the Neighborhood Library Project. This project is transforming a small library into a vibrant learning center, and providing children and adults access to computers, books, and other resources, in the hopes of inspiring a culture of learning, and offering the Nepalese community valuable educational support.
How’s it progressing so far?
Some of the latest project stats include:
- 4200+ books in the library
- 650+ book checkouts since July 2024
- Hiring a librarian
- Creating physical and digital catalogs of books
- Hosting a book signing event and three film screenings.
Fun fact: The most voracious readers are sixth and eighth graders.😊
What does the project need?
In order to grow this project to its full potential, the next steps include:
- Hiring more staff to assist with outreach and assisting library members.
- Relocating to a larger space to allow for more activities and community participation.
- Acquiring more computers to run digital literacy programs and workshops.
You can help by following us on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn and telling your friends and family all about it. If you’re able, you can also make donations via our donation page, which will go directly to supporting the project.
As always, thank you for your support.
Warm regards,
The SafeHavens Team
