Meet the Team: Lauryn and Nora from our Youth Council
June 15, 2026 | by
The SafeHavens Youth Council was established to empower the next generation of changemakers, to help shape solutions to global poverty and inequality. It provides young people with a space to contribute their ideas, perspectives, and leadership, while helping redefine what effective and ethical foreign aid can look like. We’d love to introduce two of its founding members, Lauryn and Nora.

Meet Lauryn
“My name is Lauryn and I am a people enthusiast at heart. I have a deep love for learning about the world, exploring different cultures, discovering new languages, and listening to the unique stories of the people I meet.
I joined SafeHavens because I was inspired by the meaningful work they are doing, and felt called to be part of it. I am passionate about engaging in work rooted in love, dignity, and compassion, and about helping enhance the quality of life for the beautiful individuals they serve in Nepal.”

Meet Nora
“I’m from Edmond, Oklahoma. I’m currently living in Rexburg, Idaho attending BYU, in hopes of becoming a nurse. I grew up loving service and genuine connection with people especially because my dad was a doctor. I love any opportunity to be involved and show up for people, especially kids. That is a huge part of why I joined the Youth Council.
I hope to be able to put into action what some people just talk about! My desired outcome is to see the kids in Nepal gain a sense of confidence in themselves because of the new resources that we are able to provide.”
At SafeHavens, we believe that lasting solutions to poverty and inequality cannot be created without the voices of young people. By involving and learning from the next generation, we can build more inclusive, innovative, and sustainable approaches to creating positive change around the world.
