SafeHavens, Alpine Learning Hub and Building Bureau Join Forces to Progress Library Project in Nepal
May 4, 2026 | by
SafeHavens, Alpine Learning Hub (ALH), and Building Bureau have joined forces to progress the Neighborhood Library Project, expanding access to education for underserved communities in Nepal.
In Madhesh Province, where literacy rates are the lowest in the country at just 49.5%, students face a critical barrier: the complete absence of functioning libraries. Without access to books, safe study spaces, or learning resources, many young people are left underprepared for further education and opportunity.
Libraries are essential to a strong education system, supporting literacy, independent learning, and critical thinking. The Neighborhood Library Project aims to address this gap by transforming an existing space into a dynamic, multi-purpose learning hub, providing access to books, computers, and educational support.
The partnership brings together ALH’s local education expertise, SafeHavens’ experience in community-driven development and fundraising, and Building Bureau’s strength in socially impactful design. Together, the organizations will deliver a community-centered space that supports learning, growth, and opportunity.
“This partnership reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to education through thoughtful, community-led design,” the organizations said. “By combining local knowledge and global expertise, we are creating a space that will serve generations to come.”
The project is currently in its planning and fundraising phase, with construction to follow once funding is secured, in collaboration with local engineering and design teams.
